I just saw some songs from this on an Ed Sullivan episode on Decades TV:

I remember something interesting all those years ago when John Phillips appeared on the Mike Douglas Show ( of all things .... ) Mike Douglas asked how many songs Phillips had written but not yet published ? Copyrighted ? Phillips said like, 1000 ... but before he could do anything with them, he had to record them HIMSELF ?? ( a requirement, I guess ..... ) As I had friends who were in local bands who also wrote their own stuff ....
ReplyDeleteI never knew you had to record before you could protect and presumably sell the song to others to record ???
I would be interested to hear about a M&P documentary that was a "How the Music Was Made" format that also featured the Beach Boys and Burt Bacharach with Dionne Warwick in separate presentations of the same series for Public Television.
